Description
The virus model was initially based on glass sculptures created by Luke Jerram. The project was limited to requiring 20 iterative design elements. These elements were experimented and re-evaluated in a plugin called Grasshopper for Rhinoceros 3D modeling software. Using the Grasshopper plugin I was able to create algorithmic patterns constructed from modified code of spirals and random point generators. Originally it was to be symmetrical but instead is given a more natural feel by appearing to sprout out in many directions.

After completing a rendered copy of the model it was produced using a Formagia laser sintering system to 3D print the object. The size came to be 150mm x 150mm x 1500mm or around the volume of a tennis ball.
